Family Pet Included In Tailored Will
Jane is an avid animal lover with a household of beloved pets. Her family includes three dogs, two cats, and a parrot, all of whom she considers cherished members of her family. Concerned about the welfare of her pets in the event of her passing, Mrs. Thompson approached our team seeking assistance in preparing a Will to include additional provision to ensure the well-being of her pets.
One of Mrs. Thompson's primary concerns was to make certain that her pets would be well taken care of. She wanted to appoint a trusted caregiver who would provide a loving home for her pets and ensure their needs were met throughout their natural lives.
Understanding the emotional attachment Mrs. Thompson had to her pets and the importance of addressing their future gained valuable insights into Mrs. Thompson's preferences for her pets' care and to identify suitable individuals who could assume the responsibility of becoming pet guardians.
We worked closely with Mrs. Thompson to identify friends and family members willing to assume the role of pet guardians. After careful consideration, she chose her niece, Emily, to be the primary caregiver for her pets. Alternative charities and organisation were also highlighted in case the primary caregiver was unable or unwilling to take on the responsibility.
To address the financial aspect of pet care, we structured the will to include a fixed cash gift to whoever looks after her pets. This gift was designed to cover veterinary expenses, grooming, food, and any other costs associated with the pets' well-being.
Pets are an integral part of the family and including their well-being into the estate planning process can be very important to many.
