Having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place is incredibly important for ensuring that your wishes are respected if you become mentally or physically incapable of making decisions. Martin Lewis, the money expert and consumer champion, has been particularly vocal in encouraging people to get an LPA set up so they can be sure that their wishes will be followed in the event of an illness or injury.

To be legally valid, an LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. It is important to ensure that all relevant information is included in the document and that it is filled in correctly.
